The DW1000, in conjunction with a Personal Earth Station (PES 5000), is an enterprise solution that allows for two-way broadband communications.

DW1000 remote hardware consists of a standalone unit that transfers data received over a high-speed satellite channel to one or more remote PCs and/or video TV monitors. Using IP as the basic transport protocol, DW1000 is compatible with all of the IP-protocols. In particular, with the satellite as a natural broadcast medium, DW1000 offers a cost-effective solution for IP-Multicast applications, such as video and high-speed data broadcasts. By utilizing a shared digital channel scalable up to 45Mbps, DW1000 can simultaneously support multiple MPEG real-time video streams and multiple dedicated data channels.

The DW1000 features an intelligent caching system that uses an advanced algorithm to overcome inherent Internet Protocol limitations and "burst" entire Web pages to the end user.

The DW1000 terminal is composed of an indoor unit (seen above left) that connects via an L-band interface to a PES5000 (seen below left). The DW1000 indoor unit is a receive-only device, with an Ethernet interface to the PES indoor unit for the return path.
